Our Perfect Date Night in NR2

Feb 2026 5 min read

Valentine's Day (or Galentine's for that matter!) is just around the corner, and sometimes the best romantic gesture is simply rediscovering the magic right on your doorstep.

We are so lucky to call this corner of the world home, especially when it comes to finding the perfect spots for a memorable evening. Forget the hassle of city centre crowds—NR2 offers a charming "golden triangle" of delights that make loving where you live so easy.

The beauty of the Golden Triangle is its village-like atmosphere nestled within the city. It is a place where you can spend an entire day exploring independent shops, green spaces, and historic pubs without ever needing to hail a taxi. So, if you are looking for a special treat this February, here are three of our favourite local spots for a truly perfect date night (or day!):

1. Start with a Sweet Treat & Coffee at Bread Source

Why not kick off your day of love with something truly delicious? Bread Source is not just a bakery; it is a Norwich institution. Located right in the heart of our community, the smell of freshly baked sourdough alone is enough to draw you in.

We recommend grabbing one of their iconic cinnamon buns or a flaky pain au chocolat alongside a perfectly brewed coffee. It is the ideal relaxed start before the day unfolds, giving you a moment to sit by the window and watch the world go by.

2. A Romantic Stroll Through Eaton Park

With your pastries in hand, take a leisurely walk through the beautiful Eaton Park. Spanning 80 acres, this historic park is the green heart of NR4 and offers far more than just open grass.

Whether it is a crisp winter's day or a surprisingly mild afternoon, you can wander around the iconic boating lake, admire the bandstand, or walk through the colonnades which look particularly striking in the low February sun. It is a wonderful way to reconnect and enjoy nature away from the hustle and bustle.

3. Dinner and Drinks at The Black Horse

As dusk settles, head over to Earlham Road to visit The Black Horse. This local gem offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that balances the charm of a traditional pub with a modern dining experience.

It is perfect for a cosy evening; think roaring fires, candlelit tables, and a menu that champions local, seasonal produce. From their excellent Sunday roasts to a sophisticated evening dinner menu and fine wines, it is the ideal place to toast to your loved one (or your best pals!). It truly embodies that welcoming, community feel we cherish in NR2.

We are so incredibly lucky to have such wonderful places right here in our neighbourhood, making it easy to "love where you live."
